Predicaments, Part 1
a Mini-Peter Adventure transcribed by Nikki, 2007

February-April: A Special Talent For Trouble

Obviously, Mini-Peter is always getting into trouble - that's what most of his adventures are about. Sometimes, however, his deviant activities aren't quite enough to fill a whole adventure... but that doesn't mean they aren't worth sharing! Here are three of my favourite predicaments in which he has found himself.

I've titled this adventure "Predicaments, Part 1" because I'm sure there will be plenty more to come!

February 27th: I got home from work and found this:

stuch in a soda bottle

"Oh thank goodness you're home," he sighed. "Kitty and Lugnut appear to be in danger of injuring themselves with laughter."
"Mini-Peter!" I giggled, trying unsuccessfully to hide my own amusement (and amazement), "How on EARTH did this happen?!"
"I'd really rather not discuss it. Just get me out of here, please. My hand is stuck, my neck is cramped, I've been like this for hours, and while I am very glad that you are all so thoroughly amused at my misfortune, the fun has long since ceased for me and I would really like to be somewhere else now."

Best I can guess, he drank himself right into the bottle. Doesn't seem possible, but how else can it be explained? He still won't talk about it to this day. He couldn't even drink orange soda for a few weeks (traumatized, I suppose), but he's better now.

March 9th: I was so busy doing general cleaning around the apartment on my day off that I lost track of Mini-Peter for a while. He'd been complaining about boredom that morning, so I really should have known to keep a closer eye on him. I headed out to the living room to dust some shelves, and looked up to find Mini-Peter at the very top!

ready to jump

I recognized his plan right away. Plastic grocery bag for a parachute. Where does he come up with this stuff? I mean, it's not like I tried that when I was six years old or anything... no no, of course not.
"Ohhhhhh, no you don't," I chided as I reached up, but he ran to the far edge and leapt off before I could grab him. To my great surprise and even greater relief, it actually worked!

in the air

Well, sort of. It kept him from any serious injury, but the landing was still rough enough that he sprained his knee and was limping for a few days, which seriously hindered his cat-chasing. He hasn't tried it again. Well, that know of, anyway.

March 31st: I have never been more relieved that I got home from work when I did. I came in shortly after midnight to find THIS:

foil in the microwave

"NO!!!" I shouted. "NO NO NO NO NO, Mini-Peter, I am not messing around, STEP AWAY FROM THE MICROWAVE!"
     "Awwwwwww, but-"
"Kitty and Lugnut too - get away from there! What are you thinking?!"
"I read on the internet about a dog who got microwaved," Mini-Peter explained, "but the metal on his collar blew it up before it hurt him."
"Oh. I see. And IF that story is even TRUE, what could ever make you think it would be okay to BLOW UP MY MICROWAVE?!!"
Suddenly the three of them burst out laughing.
"What is so funny?! Do you have any idea how much trouble you're all in?"
"You're so gullible!" Lugnut guffawed. "Don't you know what day it is?"
     "What are you talking about?"
"It's after midnight," Kitty revealed in hysterics. "It's April Fool's Day!"
"We've been standing here for an hour," a doubled over Mini-Peter elaborated, "just waiting for you to get home so we could make you think we were going to blow up the microwave!"

Or so they claim... I'll never know for sure if that was the real plan or just a very good cover story. Still - he did look very cute in his foil suit, didn't he?

And it didn't end there. He went online that night to look up stuff you could do with foil, and he found that website that shows how to make foil helmets to deflect government mind control.

you really have to see this site...

Lugnut went a bit crazy for the scotch tape attachment technique, while Kitty opted for the full head covering. Ohhh, these three... there's no end to their antics! Between the big adventures, there's always plenty of this sort of thing going on. You can be sure there will be a "Predicaments, Part 2" in a few months!
